A man asked the Messenger of God if he should tie his camel and put his trust in God or if he should leave his camel untied and put his trust in God.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) told that man to tie his camel and trust in God.
One of the takeaways from that narration is that we should do our part in this world and leave the rest to God.
For example, if we want God to provide for us financially, then we should apply for jobs, go to interviews, and work part-time jobs or side gigs while we wait to get an offer for a full-time job or higher paying job.
Sometimes the effort is simply to show Him that we’re sincere and trying our best despite the outcomes.
But what happens when you’re put in a position where you literally cannot do anything but wait for God to provide?

You do what God instructed us in chapter 40 verse 60: call upon Him and He will respond to you.
A sincere prayer is an effort that shows you’re trying and genuinely want something but you need God to make a way for you.
I know that’s easier said than done in certain situations which is why I want to share how God has provided for me in unexpected ways recently.
Let me give you some context first.
In 2025, I was working two jobs and doing doubles. It was hard sometimes but necessary for me to have enough money to pay all of my bills and expenses.
Because one of those jobs became unsafe, I left it toward the end of 2025 despite that income being my means to pay rent.
I applied for other jobs and picked up shifts at my one job when possible.
Toward the beginning of 2026, I applied for a packing position at a moving company as well as other customer service positions at other companies.
I had an interview scheduled for one job but based on the interactions with some of the hiring employees and my gut instinct, I ended up canceling the interview and withdrawing my application.
That was a hard choice because I really wanted another job so I could be financially stable and independent again.
I constantly talked to God about this and asked Him to help me get another job.
Two weeks after I applied for that packing position, I got a call from one of the employees to set up an interview.
I ended up getting the job and started that week. Alhamdulillah.
While I’m grateful I got the job, it was a contractor position so my hours would not be consistent or guaranteed.
That led to me applying for delivery positions on gig platforms and signing up for shifts on a staffing platform.
Since I was waitlisted for some of those apps, I decided to focus on picking up shifts on that staffing platform, picking up shifts at my part-time job, and completing shifts for my contractor role when I was scheduled.
For a while, things worked out and I was able to make enough money to pay all of my bills and expenses. I was living paycheck to paycheck, but I had everything I needed. Alhamdulillah.
Toward the end of July, I got off the waitlist for one of those delivery apps and by August, I was earning money from two delivery apps in addition to my other jobs.
Things seemed to be working out even though life was still hard in some ways.
In the second half of August, I was scheduled to complete a pack job for my contractor role. On the morning of my shift, I had some symptoms that let me know my menstrual cycle was going to be starting soon. I assumed it would be the next day since I often get symptoms on the day before my period starts.
As I was at work, I went from feeling normal to feeling slightly uncomfortable to feeling miserable. I went to the bathroom to see what was going on with my body and I saw that my period had started. Thankfully, I had a pad in my bag so I put that on and went back to work.
I was trying to push through the pain but after a while, I told the lead I wasn’t feeling well and needed to go home. As I was driving off, I felt overheated and like I was going to pass out. I quickly turned around and went back to the client’s home.
When I arrived, I went to the bathroom and sat on the floor. I was in a lot of pain and I didn’t have any medication on hand nor did the other women when I asked earlier. All I could do was sit on my legs and cry. The other women checked on me and asked me if there was anything they could do to help. I asked if one of them could go to CVS to get some medicine for me and they did.
While I was waiting for them to come back, I asked another woman if she had anything I could eat and she gave me some crackers and water. Once I got the medicine, I took it immediately and sat on the bathroom floor waiting for it to kick in. After several minutes, I ended up throwing up in the toilet bowl and crying profusely because I felt gross, embarrassed, and weak.
Despite that, the women showed empathy and told me they understood. They asked me if I needed a ride home and I told them I would drive myself and I would take my time getting home. The lead told me to text her when I got home so they could know I was safe.
As I was leaving that time, the company owner arrived and asked me how I was feeling. I told him I was feeling a little better because of the medicine but I needed to go home. He told me to let him know if I needed anything. When I got home, I texted the lead to let her know I made it home safely and to thank her and the ladies again for their help.
Because I was still in a lot of pain the next couple of days, I wasn’t able to go to work. I threw up a couple of times the next day and I could barely get out of bed. That situation felt devastating because I couldn’t afford to get the medical help I needed and I couldn’t go to work to make money that I could save to get the medical help I needed.
Despite things being rough, in hindsight, God took care of me by sending help when I was in a vulnerable position.
My coworkers didn’t have to help me but they did. They could have scoffed at me, told me I was overreacting, and made me feel like an inconvenience. But they didn’t. Alhamdulillah.
There are women who shame other women for not being able to function normally because of our severe menstrual cycles. There are women who don’t believe that women have painful menstrual cycles so they think we’re overreacting when we talk about our pain.
Thankfully, my coworkers weren’t those women. They understood what I was experiencing that day and I believe God provided relief for me through those women’s kind actions.
I also believe God helped me by giving me time to rest during that vulnerable time.
Women have been conditioned to work through our pain in order to survive yet God was showing me that I needed to rest and trust that He would take care of me even when I didn’t know how.
That was hard to do because I was trying to improve my financial situation yet I kept being put in situations that affected my finances in a negative way. At least that’s how it looked and felt.
Then a week later, one of my worst fears came true.
One Friday night, I was doing deliveries for a delivery app. I had a certain money goal I wanted to achieve so I could afford to pay some bills. After a certain time, I decided the next delivery request was going to be my last one for the night.
The last request ended up being two orders from the same restaurant. I picked up both orders and I headed to the first drop off location.
As I was driving down an intersection, I saw there was a vehicle stopped on the opposite side with their left turn signal on. There were no stop signs or traffic lights and the other vehicle was stopped, so I continued going down the intersection since I had the right of way and it looked clear.
As I was passing the intersection, the other driver attempted to make a left turn and ended up hitting my car near my driver’s side.
That moment was terrifying and all I could focus on was the movement of my car being pushed over the fog line. After the accident happened, the other driver fled the scene and left me by myself. I called 911 and requested police and an ambulance. My right knee and left forearm were hurting so I wanted EMS to check for injuries.
I didn’t get out of my car until the police arrived at the scene so I wasn’t sure how bad the damage was to my car. All I knew was my car wouldn’t start and my driver’s side mirror was torn off due to the accident.
Additionally, other people stopped to check on me and kept telling me to turn on my hazard lights. I told them I did have them on but for some reason, it wasn’t showing on the outside of my car.
I’m not going to get into too many details about that night, but I will say that when I finally looked at the outside of my car, I started crying. All I could think was I was inches away from dying or being severely injured by the accident and my car was ruined.
I heard the police officer tell the tow truck driver that it looked like my car was totaled. That hurt to hear but I wanted to have hope that maybe my car could be fixed. I needed it to be fixed because I needed a car to get to work. I needed a car to make money. That car was the only vehicle I had and I couldn’t afford to buy another one. So, I wanted to have hope despite how things looked and sounded.
The days following the car accident were hard. I was in a lot of pain. I couldn’t lift my left arm toward my head to tie my hair. I had a limp when I walked because my right knee was injured. I didn’t have my car because it was towed away that night. I had to talk to different insurance agents about the car accident to give my statement for an investigation.
There was so much going on and yet nothing going on when it came to making money.
And despite the fact I was in pain, all I could think about was how was I going to get to work. I could take the bus for one of my jobs but I would have to figure out the bus route. I could rent a vehicle to do delivery work but I wouldn’t be able to keep most of the money I make.
Because there was so much uncertainty, all I could do was cry, talk to God, and wait for answers.
A few days after the accident, I got a call from an insurance agent and they told me the insurance company was going to provide a rental vehicle for me. I told her that was the best news I got from that whole situation.
I had to order a Lyft ride to get to the rental company and there were some issues with the checkout process, but I was able to get a rental vehicle that day. Alhamdulillah.
Because my money was limited, I decided to not do any delivery work because that would eat up the gas faster. Instead, I decided to complete my scheduled shifts at my part-time job and focus on recovering.
I started to have hope again and I felt like things were going to be alright.
A few days later, I got a call from another insurance agent. They told me my car was officially declared a total loss, I needed to hand over my title, I would receive a payment for my car, and I needed to return the rental vehicle by next week.
As you can imagine, I felt a mix of emotions. I was happy to hear that I would receive a payment that would be enough to cover my bills and expenses for September.
However, I was sad to hear that my car was declared totaled and I had to let go of my title and key. The last time I saw my car was the night of the accident. I didn’t know that was our official goodbye so it hurt to hear that I would never see my car again.
I know many people would say it was just a car, but to me, it was more than a car.
Lastly, I was a little shocked that I had to return the rental vehicle so quickly since I was initially told that I would be able to have it for 30 days. In reality, I only had it for almost two weeks.
I hadn’t gotten a new vehicle at that point and the payment from the insurance company wasn’t going to be enough to pay for another vehicle even if it was a used vehicle.
I was back to stressing and worrying about what I was going to do about transportation and work. Yet, behind the scenes, God was taking care of everything for me.
When God answers our prayers, He does so in many ways. Sometimes it’s by showing us a dream. Sometimes it’s by showing us a direct sign. Sometimes it’s by sending people to deliver what we need. Those people could be relatives, coworkers, neighbors, or even strangers.
In my earlier example, God sent help through my coworkers. In this situation, God sent help through my relatives and insurance company.
The day after my accident, my mom made food for me and my little sister brought it to my home. The week after my accident, my mom got in contact with a relative who agreed to fix and sell a used vehicle to me. She also helped me pay for that vehicle. My aunt and cousins picked me up on the day I needed to go get that vehicle so I wouldn’t have to pay for a Lyft ride. They also stayed with me and kept me company while I waited to get the key for that vehicle.
Now if you’re thinking, “that’s your family so of course they were going to help you,” I disagree. If you’re thinking, “you’re so lucky to have family who helped you,” I disagree. I’m blessed not lucky, and I’m thankful my family chose to help me because that was a choice not an obligation.
I’m an adult so it’s my responsibility to figure things out yet I didn’t have to figure out everything by myself. Alhamdulillah.
Earlier I said, “Women have been conditioned to work through our pain in order to survive yet God was showing me that I needed to rest and trust that He would take care of me even when I didn’t know how.”
A few days after the car accident happened, I started working on creating a digital product.
This is not a sales pitch. I’m just giving some context, so you can relax.
That incident at work and the car accident reinforced the idea that I needed a way to make money without having to be physically present all the time. I had already made some money selling a digital product I created in 2020 so I wanted to make another digital product that could help bring in money.
From September 1st to September 6th, I brainstormed, drafted, edited, and created a digital product related to the moving industry. On September 7th, I launched that digital product on my website and Etsy store.
I was trying to push through the pain and have some control in a situation that made me feel stressed, devastated, and weak. Yet, God was teaching me again that I needed to rest and trust that He would take care of me even when I didn’t know how.
I didn’t receive the payment from my insurance company until the week after I launched that digital product. So during the first week of September, all I could focus on was creating a solution for my financial situation while God already had a solution prepared for me. He just needed me to trust Him and be patient.
That payment was a huge blessing and financial relief for me. For the first time in a long time, I was able to relax and not stress about money because I had enough money to pay all of my bills and expenses for September as well as rent for October. I was not expecting that especially since I was told different things about my insurance policy and car value from different people.
Because I didn’t have to work as much as before in September, I got to return to something I absolutely love which is writing. Before the car accident, I had published three new blog posts on my website. In September, I published six blog posts because I had more time to write and more mental space to create. In addition to writing, I got to relaunch my podcast after taking a six-year hiatus from it.
When I was working a lot, I struggled to create and be consistent. Because I didn’t have to work as much in September, I got to create and post consistently on two platforms that mean a lot to me.
That was all thanks to God. He provided for me when there was so much financial uncertainty. He gave me space to rest, recover, and just exist. He gave me time to work on things I love.
And He reminded me that He will answer when I call upon Him.
It may not be in the way I expect or want. It may not be in the timeframe I desire. But He will respond in a way that will make me think, “why was I stressing so much when I have God on my side?”
As human beings, we often forget that our limits are not God’s limits and that God has no limits. We try to control situations that we don’t have control over. We try to make it seem like we’re truly independent beings who don’t need help from anyone or anything yet God constantly reminds us that we’re interdependent beings who need His guidance and blessings to make it in this world.
And if you’re thinking, “I’ve been struggling for many years yet God has never helped me in the way He has helped you,” I want to challenge you to take another look at your life to see how blessed you are right now.
Sometimes, we become so focused on the blessings we want that we overlook the blessings we have.
You might be living paycheck to paycheck but you have shelter, food, water, and clothes.
You might be struggling with your health, but you have access to medical providers, equipment, and services that can help improve your health.
You might be facing a loss of someone or something, but you have friends or a therapist you can talk to during this difficult time.
I’m not saying that you can’t feel sad or angry about your current situation. Your feelings are valid and you’re allowed to feel other emotions besides joy.
What I am saying is that even in situations that look undesirable, there is still something to be grateful for and there is still hope because God sees and hears everything.
He hears our prayers. He hears our thoughts. He hears our intentions.
So keep trying your best and keep talking to God.
Keep tying your camel and keep putting your trust in God.
Because God is a God of His Word: if you call upon Him, He will respond to you.
If you ask for provision, He will provide for you.
And sometimes, it may be in the most unexpected yet life-altering ways.
