In September 2020, I launched my podcast “The Jessica Dukharan Podcast.”
I recorded four episodes but only published three.
After posting the third episode, something didn’t feel right.
I dreaded transcribing the audio and turning it into a blog post (despite the interview going well).

Looking back, I was dealing with imposter syndrome and misalignment.
I wanted my podcast to be about communication and business.
For the communication part, I felt qualified because I had four years of public speaking experience via Toastmasters and speech competitions.
For the business part, though, I didn’t feel qualified because I didn’t have a “successful business” then.
Sure, I had made some money from affiliate sales and I launched my first digital product that year. But I wasn’t successful like the people I was interviewing and I didn’t know what type of business I wanted to have.
I just knew that I wanted to help people by sharing knowledge and I wanted to make money so I could afford to move out of my family’s home (possibly out of state) and take care of myself.
It’s kind of wild looking back and seeing that roadblock, though, because earlier in 2020, I did an interview series for my blog called Speech Contest Champions in which I interviewed Toastmasters who won first place in either a District Speech Contest or the World Championship of Public Speaking (including the 2019 winner Aaron Beverly).
Even though I had never won first place in a speech contest, I had no problem interviewing people who did.
So why did I have imposter syndrome when it came to interviewing business owners for my podcast?
Why did I feel “bad” while I was putting together the blog post and show notes for episode three?
Because there was misalignment with the type of brand I was trying to build.
The podcast concept was good but the direction it was headed in wasn’t right for me at that time.

After taking a six-year hiatus from podcasting, I’m relaunching The Jessica Dukharan Podcast with a new mission.
“Jessica Dukharan is about helping women (specifically Asian, Hispanic, and Muslim women) build independent, fulfilling lives on their own terms—without abandoning who they are, what they believe, or the values that matter to them.”
Because my new-but-not-so-new podcast will be an audio extension of my blog, it will cover various topics such as personal development, relationships, money, faith, business, homemaking, career, travel, and anything else that fits the lives of the women I want to help.
While the topics will change, the type of woman I’m speaking to will be the same.
Well, technically she will change because she believes in self-improvement, taking accountability, and trying new things.
But her core values, morals, and grit won’t change because those make her who she is today and who she wants to be in the future.
Similarly, although my core values, morals, and grit haven’t changed, I as an individual have changed over the past six years so I want my podcast to be a reflection of that.
Thus, the first episode of my new-but-not-so-new podcast is titled “You’re Allowed to Change.”
Because women are allowed to change (and podcasts can change too).
To kick off the re-launch of The Jessica Dukharan Podcast, three episodes are currently available for listening.
Episode 1: You’re Allowed to Change. I share some of the ways I have changed in my lifetime and remind you that you can change yourself and your life at anytime.
Episode 2: How to Legally Protect Your Blog and Business. This is a re-release of an interview I did with a business attorney. She shared what legal pages you need on your website, the difference between free legal policy generators and attorney-drafted policy pages, and why she became an attorney in the first place.
Episode 3: What to Do Before the Packers and Movers Arrive. If you’re moving soon (or know someone who is moving soon), this episode provides practical guidance on how you can get your home ready for moving day (as well as a resource you can use to make moving feel less stressful).
You can listen to these episodes anywhere podcasts are distributed as well as directly on my website on my Podcast page.
Thank you for tuning in and being a part of this new chapter. I’m excited to see where it takes us. ♥️
