Why I’m qualified to do this review
You might be wondering who I am and why I’m qualified to do this review.
My name is Jessica Dukharan and I am a multi-business owner who has multiple websites.
Currently, my businesses and websites include Jessica Dukharan, The Migrant Notary, and Traditional With a Hint of Modern.
This piece of information is important because the target audience for the Starter Legal Bundle includes business owners and content creators who have a website.
Even if you don’t consider yourself a business owner or content creator, if you do have a website or blog in which you’re sharing any type of information such as tips, tutorials, or recipes, or you have an email form on there to collect email addresses, then you do need to have certain legal policies and legal pages on your own website or blog.
Back in 2019, I purchased the Starter Legal Bundle from A Self Guru so I am a customer who has seen and used these legal templates for my websites and businesses.
Additionally, as a customer, I have insight on if the information presented on the sales page for this digital product is true or not.
Lastly, I want to disclose that I am an affiliate for the A Self Guru legal templates and legal bundles. As stated earlier, I purchased the Starter Legal Bundle in 2019 and I have also purchased several other legal templates from A Self Guru over the years.
Because I like the legal templates, I became an affiliate for these products so if you decide to buy any of them through my affiliate links, then I will receive a commission at no extra cost to you.
Who is Amira Irfan of A Self Guru?
Now that we’ve established my credibility, I want to share some background information on the creator of the Starter Legal Bundle because it will tie into the next section of this post.
A Self Guru is run by Amira Irfan. She is a licensed attorney for the states of Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Amira graduated with Honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2010 and she was ranked in the top 10% of her law school class.
Since becoming a business lawyer, she has helped over 30,000 business owners, entrepreneurs, and freelancers with her legal templates and legal services.
Amira is also a professional blogger and entrepreneur so she understands the importance of protecting yourself and your business with legal pages and contracts.
Pros of the Starter Legal Bundle
Now it’s time to dive into the pros of the Starter Legal Bundle.
Pro 1: Created by a licensed attorney who is also a professional blogger and entrepreneur
As previously mentioned, this bundle was created by a business lawyer who is also a blogger and entrepreneur. That is the main reason I decided to purchase the Starter Legal Bundle from A Self Guru.
Knowing that this product was created by a licensed attorney who specializes in business law AND has her own website, blog, and business showed that this product is one we can trust and one that will have the legalese we need to protect our own blogs, websites, and businesses.
Not all lawyers specialize in the same field of law or have their own businesses.
It’s important for us as customers to make sure that the person selling a specific product or service has the necessary credentials and experience that is relevant to our needs and circumstances. Amira definitely meets the requirements needed to create a product like this.
Pro 2: Comprehensive templates that offer more protection than free legal templates
Because this product was created by a business lawyer, the templates inside of the bundle are comprehensive and offer more legal protection than free legal templates and free policy generators.
Before I purchased the Starter Legal Bundle (or even knew about it), I used free policy generators to create legal policies and pages for my website.
There were two main reasons for that: 1) I couldn’t afford to pay a lawyer to create legal policies for my website and 2) the free templates and policy generators were recommended by a well-known blogger. While I’m sure they meant well, that was a big no-no that could have cost me a fortune.
Free legal policy templates do not offer the same protection as legal policies that are drafted by a lawyer. Period.
Don’t make the same mistake as me of taking the shortcut in protecting your business and website. It’s a risk and bad decision that is not worth it and one that could cost you a lot down the road.
With the Starter Legal Bundle, you don’t have to worry about those risks because again the templates inside of it are comprehensive and were drafted by a business lawyer.
Pro 3: Customizable, done-for-you legal templates
Another pro is the templates inside the bundle are customizable, done-for-you templates.
The Starter Legal Bundle includes a privacy policy template, disclaimer template, and terms and conditions template.
Each template can be customized to fit your blog and business needs. No worries, though! There isn’t much customizing that you have to do since the templates already contain the legal wording you need to protect your blog, website, and business.
Furthermore, when I say “customize,” I mean that you will need to include certain information—company’s name, website’s name, email address—in certain sections of those policy pages.
You also have the option to include or exclude certain sections such as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) legal clause and Fair Use Disclaimer clause.
The best part is you don’t have to be tech-savvy to customize and use these templates.
Pro 4: Clear instructions on how to fill out the legal templates
The templates are packaged in a Word document, and there are custom blank fields and clear instructions in each template that will guide you through this process.
The entire process of editing and publishing these pages will take about 15-30 minutes to complete depending on your pace.
The parts that you need to customize are highlighted in yellow and Amira included examples of how you can complete each highlighted section within the templates.
It’s pretty straightforward and easy to fill out the templates, but if you run into any problems or have any questions, you can reach out to Amira and her team for guidance.
Pro 5: Google Doc version of the privacy policy template
Another pro of the Starter Legal Bundle is that there is a Google Doc version for the privacy policy template that shows all the changes/updates in red.
Everyone may not have access to Microsoft Word so it’s great that a Google Doc version is provided in the private membership area. I will talk more about this point in an upcoming section of this article.
Pro 6: Lifetime free updates of the legal templates
The next pro of the Starter Legal Bundle is you will get lifetime free updates of the legal templates.
I purchased the Starter Legal Bundle in June 2019 and I received a free update for it in December 2019. In the email, she stated that the privacy policy template was updated to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) which went into effect on January 1, 2020.
She included the new clause within the body of the email and instructions on how to fill out the highlighted section and where to place this new clause in our privacy policy page on our website. She also attached the same information as a Word document so we could download it and fill it out that way instead.
I also received an email update in January 2023. In the email, she stated that the privacy policy template was updated to comply with the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA) which went into effect in 2023.
She also stated that there were state privacy laws coming from Colorado, Utah, Connecticut, and others later that year. I’m going to touch more on this point in an upcoming section of this post.
Unlike last time, she didn’t include the new clauses within the body of the email. Instead, she included a message about checking the private membership area to download the latest version of the privacy policy template.
The fact that I didn’t have to pay her or another lawyer for these updates is a huge pro for the Starter Legal Bundle.
New laws related to privacy and data are constantly being created and passed, and as a customer, we will get these new clauses and updates for free for lifetime which is amazing.
Pro 7: Private membership area
The next pro of the Starter Legal Bundle is you will gain access to a private membership area in which you can download your legal templates.
When you purchase any of the legal bundles or legal templates from A Self Guru, you will receive an email with a download link for those bundles or templates.
However, you probably receive dozens of emails on a daily basis so that specific email can get easily lost amongst the sea of other emails in your inbox.
Thankfully, you can easily access your legal templates in the private membership area which will always include the most updated version of those templates.
Please keep in mind that the private membership area is only for customers who purchase any of the three legal bundles not individual templates separately.
So if you purchase the Starter Legal Bundle, you will receive access to this membership area.
Inside the private membership area, at the top, you will see the name of the bundle or bundles that you purchased from A Self Guru and after you hover over the name of the bundle, you will see a dropdown menu to click on the individual templates inside of that bundle. From there, you can download the latest version of that legal template.
Pro 8: More affordable than hiring a lawyer
The next pro of the Starter Legal Bundle is this product is more affordable compared to the price of hiring a business lawyer to draft legal policies for your website and business.
It’s no secret that lawyers can charge hundreds and even thousands of dollars to draft legal policies and legal templates for their clients. You probably will also have to pay hundreds of dollars for a consultation before they can even create your policies and templates.
If you’re reading this article, I’m going to guess that you don’t have thousands of dollars or hundreds of dollars to spend on hiring a business lawyer to create custom legal pages for your website and business. I don’t either which is why I bought the Starter Legal Bundle in 2019.
I wanted the legal protection for my website and business without the hefty price tag, and if you do too, then the Starter Legal Bundle is the perfect solution for you.
The price of this bundle is a fraction of what it would cost to hire a business lawyer to draft these same legal policies and templates, and remember the templates inside this bundle were created by a business lawyer so you will get the legal protection you need without the hefty price tag.
Additionally, A Self Guru’s Legal Bundle is more affordable than other business lawyer’s legal templates. I’m not going to say that her templates cost less than every single business lawyer’s legal templates, but if you do some research, then you will see that there are other business lawyers who are charging way more than her for the same legal templates.
All in all, the Starter Legal Bundle is a more cost-effective solution for your legal business needs, and it’s an investment and expense that you can write off on your taxes. Make sure you consult with your accountant about that when it’s time to do your taxes.
Pro 9: Can use for multiple websites and businesses you own
The next pro of the Starter Legal Bundle that I want to mention is you can use these legal templates for multiple websites and businesses that you own.
Whenever you purchase a digital product, it’s important for you to check the license and usage rights of that product because not everyone will grant you the same license and rights.
Some lawyers might restrict the usage of their legal templates so that you can only use it for one website or one business that you own.
However, Amira doesn’t have that restriction for her legal templates and legal bundles so you can purchase the Starter Legal Bundle once and use it for any and all websites and businesses that you own.
At the beginning of this blog post, I mentioned that I have multiple websites and businesses so you better believe that I’m using and will use the Starter Legal Bundle for all of those websites and businesses without having to purchase that bundle ever again.
Keep that in mind when you look at the price of the Starter Legal Bundle.
Not only is it more cost-effective compared to hiring a business lawyer, it’s also not as costly as you think since you only have to purchase it once and you can use it multiple times throughout your lifetime AND you will get free updates for lifetime.
Basically, it’s the best bang for your buck.
Pro 10: Includes Nine Useful Bonuses
The following bonuses are included in the Starter Legal Bundle:
- GDPR Visitor Rights Policy
- GDPR Compliance / Email Marketing Policy
- Cookie Policy
- Earnings Disclaimer
- Testimonials and Product Reviews Disclaimer
- Sponsored Posts Disclaimer
- Lawful Use of Your Website Clause
- Third Party Links Disclaimer
- Mandatory Arbitration Clause
The GDPR policies and the Mandatory Arbitration clause are my favorite bonuses. Why?
The GDPR policy sections help ensure your website is in compliance with the European Union’s new GDPR laws and protects you from heavy GDPR fines for non-compliance. This article on Wired states that “serious consequences can have fines of up to €20 million or four percent of a firm’s global turnover (whichever is greater).” Yikes! 😳 It’s a good thing these policies are included in the bundle.
The Mandatory Arbitration clause is awesome because it gives you the chance to work things out with the other party on a more personal (read: human) level, and it makes it mandatory for the dispute to be resolved in the state where YOU reside. This helps lower the costs associated with the legal action.
Cons of the Starter Legal Bundle
Now that we’ve covered the pros of the Starter Legal Bundle, let’s go over some cons of this bundle.
Con 1: No Google Doc version of the other two templates
The first con is there is no Google Doc version for the disclaimer template or terms and conditions template inside the private membership area.
As I was prepping for this blog post, I had listed this point only in the cons section and not the pros section for the privacy policy template at first.
However, when I logged into my membership area, I saw that there was a Google Doc version for the privacy policy template which made me excited because I do remember someone pointing out the lack of this version of the templates a few years ago inside her Facebook group, and she responded saying that they do have a Google Doc version of it and that person would have to email them to receive a link for it.
When I saw this new update, I thought it was the same for the disclaimer template and terms and conditions template, but when I clicked on each of those templates, I didn’t see a Google Doc link for either.
I’m going to guess that the reason for this is that the privacy policy template is the main template that will get updated over the years due to new state laws.
However, that shouldn’t stop her or her team from including a Google Doc version for the other two templates inside the membership area.
As I stated before, everyone may not have access to Microsoft Word so those that don’t have Microsoft Word won’t be able to download and use the templates right away.
They will have to email Amira and her team for that version, and that hassle can be avoided altogether if the Google Doc version is added to the membership area.
Con 2: Didn’t receive an email for every update
The second con of the Starter Legal Bundle is I didn’t receive an email for every single update that was made to the legal templates or private membership area.
Now this could be due to an email glitch or the emails being sent to my spam folder instead of my inbox folder.
I don’t know for sure but I do know that I didn’t receive an email each time an update was made to any of the templates or membership area.
Earlier when I was talking about the pros of the Starter Legal Bundle, I mentioned that I received two email updates—one in December 2019 and one in January 2023. That’s a long time in between those email updates.
Additionally, in the January 2023 email update, she stated that new state laws were coming later that year so I should have received another email in 2023 stating that the privacy policy template was updated to reflect those new state laws.
Furthermore, as I mentioned in a previous point, I noticed that she added a Google Doc version of the privacy policy template inside the membership area yet I didn’t receive an email about this update either.
Again, I may not have received those email updates due to an email glitch or the emails being sent to my spam folder but I can’t confirm that’s the true reason.
One workaround for this con is to check the membership area once or twice every year to make sure we have the latest version of each template on our websites.
We could check it in January and July for example to see if there are newer versions of the templates and if so, we can download them, fill them out, and place them on our websites at that time.
Another workaround for this con is to whitelist her email address to ensure that her emails will always land in our inbox and not our spam folder. We could also check her Facebook group for announcements about updates to her templates or membership area.
Con 3: May not have all the legalese you want
The third con of the Starter Legal Bundle is the legal templates may not have all the legalese that you want for your website or business.
Although the legal templates are comprehensive due to them being drafted by a business lawyer who is also a professional blogger and entrepreneur, there is no guarantee that the templates will have all the clauses and legal wording that you may want for your specific website or business.
For example, if you offer coaching services, you might find that the terms and conditions template may not have all the legalese that you would want for a coaching agreement.
In cases like that, you would need to purchase the exact legal contract template that is needed for that particular situation or you would need to consult with a business lawyer to have them draft a terms and conditions template that is more tailored for your business.
Regardless of that, the Starter Legal Bundle is still a good choice to start with when you’re building your website and business.
It will help to protect you, your website, and your business from many unwanted legal situations while you save up to hire a business lawyer to create more custom legal policies, contracts, and templates for your business.
Alternatives for the Starter Legal Bundle
So far, we’ve discussed the pros and cons of the Starter Legal Bundle. Now, let’s go over some alternatives for this product.
Alternative 1: Website Protection Package
The first alternative is the Website Protection Package from Legal Doer.
That company is run by Alyssa Malchiodi who is a licensed attorney in the states of Nevada and California.
According to Legal Doer.com, Alyssa has been “practicing law for over 12 years, in the following areas of law: business, contracts, social media marketing, and brand protection (copyright and trademarks).”
One thing that makes Alyssa’s legal templates stand out from other lawyer’s legal templates is that she includes a video guide and/or detailed explanations for clauses and sections in her templates so you can understand the terms inside of the templates.
Alternative 2: Blog Protection Bundle
The second alternative is the Blog Protection Bundle from The Boutique Lawyer.
That company is run by Amber Gilormo who is a licensed attorney in the state of Georgia. She has 15 years of legal experience and she specializes in trademarks, social media law, and personal injury.
One thing that makes Amber’s legal templates stand out from other lawyer’s legal templates is that her contracts are peer reviewed by industry specific experts to make sure they include everything you need.
Another distinction is under the highlights section for this bundle, she states that the templates are “written without legalese so you actually understand what you’re signing.” That’s very interesting since legal policies and contracts typically include legalese.
Alternative 3: Legal Bundle Value Pack
The third alternative is the Legal Bundle Value Pack from Blogging for New Bloggers.
That company is run by two sisters who both have a legal background. One of the sisters and creator of the Legal Bundle Value Pack is Dr. Lucrezia Iapichino.
She is an international lawyer, university lecturer, and blogger who has over 15 years of legal experience.
According to Blogging for New Bloggers, she has worked as a lawyer and academic in several countries such as the UK, US, France, and the Netherlands. Although she is originally from Italy, she currently resides in Melbourne, Australia.
One thing that makes her legal templates stand out from other lawyer’s legal templates is that her templates were drafted by an international lawyer who is a GDPR expert.
Invest in Yourself and Your Business
I hope you enjoyed this detailed review of the Starter Legal Bundle and its alternatives.
Although there are some cons for this product, there are many pros that make it worth the investment.
As I’ve mentioned throughout this article, I bought the Starter Legal Bundle and still use it to this day and will continue to use it for my websites and businesses. I highly recommend checking it out and purchasing it so you can use it for your own website and business.
If you’re still on the fence, though, then I also recommend checking out the testimonials below as well as the alternatives I mentioned in this article so you can learn more about those options to help you make a final decision on which product to get.

What are all the templates needed to run an online blog in the UK?
I plan to post content… I plan to have guest writers… I plan to have guest interviews…. I plan to sell my own merchandise as well as sell affiliate products, run a mailing list and maybe a contest or two..
What legal templates would I need for this kind of business?
If you could helpmI would be most appreciative
🙂
Hi Craig,
Although I don’t live in the UK (and advise that you speak to a lawyer to get the most accurate information), I do know that websites need a Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Terms and Conditions page at the bare minimum. Additionally, based on what you shared, it would be a good idea to also get a Guest Blogger Agreement, Media Release Agreement, and Sweepstakes Terms and Conditions template. You can learn more about each in this blog post: https://www.jessicadukharan.com/legal-templates-bloggers-entrepreneurs/
Thank you for this post! I’m doing some research for my own website and this is the best review of legal bundles I have seen!
Thank you, Samantha! I’m glad you found this review helpful. 😄
