If a Federal Trade Commision representative were to audit your website to see if you are complying with the laws of the state and country in which it is operated, would you pass or fail that audit?

Hopefully, you would easily pass it due to having all the important and mandatory legal pages set up on your website beforehand. If this is your case, then great! If not, don’t worry—you’re in the right place! Today I’m going to share with you three legal policies you should have on your website and how you can use the Legal Bundle to create those policies to protect yourself and your business.

Privacy Policy

First, you need to have a privacy policy. In a nutshell, a privacy policy is a legal statement that tells visitors how you collect and use their personal information. This may include but is not limited to their name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and debit or credit card information.

Your privacy policy should state why you collect personal information, how you protect or disclose it, why and how you use cookies, and how you comply with different online rules and regulations such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Disclaimer

Second, you need to have a disclaimer. A disclaimer limits your legal liability for the content you publish on your website by informing your visitors that the content and information on your website is for informational and educational purposes only and should not be taken as professional advice.

My Disclaimer page also includes an affiliate & third party links disclosure, sponsored posts/reviews disclosure, earnings disclaimer, and other disclaimers to inform visitors that I may be compensated for advertising certain products or services on this blog. It’s important to be transparent about that!

Terms and Conditions

Third, you need to have a Terms and Conditions page. Terms and Conditions are your website rules and they serve as a legal contract between you and your website visitors, users, and customers.

As Amira Irfan (the creator of Legal Bundle) states, it’s important to have this agreement on your website because it explains your intellectual property rights to your content, your dispute resolution process, your right to terminate anyone’s use of your website, and your refund/exchange policies.

How the Legal Bundle Can Help You Protect Your Blog and Business

Now that you have an understanding of the three essential legal policies you need to have on your website, I want to share how the Legal Bundle for Your Website can help you protect yourself, your blog, and your business, and why you should take advantage of this product versus other options.

Customizable, Ready-to-Use Templates

The Legal Bundle includes the following:

Each template can be customized to fit your blog and business needs. No worries, though! There isn’t much customizing that you have to do since the templates already contain all the legal wording you need to protect your blog. Furthermore, when I say “customize,” I mean that you will need to include certain information—company’s name, website’s name, email address—in certain sections of those policy pages. You also have the option to include or exclude certain sections such as the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) legal clause and Fair Use Disclaimer.

The best part is you don’t have to be tech-savvy to customize and use these templates!

The templates are packaged in a Word document, and there are custom blank fields and clear instructions in each template that will guide you through this process. The entire process of editing and publishing these pages will take about 15-30 minutes to complete depending on your pace.

Written and Created by a Lawyer

The main reason I decided to purchase the Legal Bundle is that it was created by a licensed attorney, Amira Irfan. Amira graduated with Honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2010, and she has over eight years of experience of representing businesses and online entrepreneurs.

In addition to having a background in practicing law, Amira knows how to run a business and understands the importance of protecting your business since she is a business owner too.

Her credibility alone should tell you that this product is one you can trust and one that will have all the legal protections you need for your blog and business.

Includes Nine Useful Bonuses

The following bonuses are included in the Legal Bundle:

  1. GDPR Visitor Rights Policy
  2. GDPR Compliance / Email Marketing Policy
  3. Cookie Policy
  4. Earnings Disclaimer
  5. Testimonials and Product Reviews Disclaimer
  6. Sponsored Posts Disclaimer
  7. Lawful Use of Your Website Clause
  8. Third Party Links Disclaimer
  9. Mandatory Arbitration Clause

The GDPR policies and the Mandatory Arbitration clause are my favorite bonuses. Why?

The GDPR policy sections help ensure your website is in compliance with the European Union’s new GDPR laws and protects you from heavy GDPR fines for non-compliance. This article on Wired states that “serious consequences can have fines of up to €20 million or four percent of a firm’s global turnover (whichever is greater).” Yikes! 😳 It’s a good thing these policies are included in the bundle.

The Mandatory Arbitration clause is awesome because it gives you the chance to work things out with the other party on a more personal (read: human) level, and it makes it mandatory for the dispute to be resolved in the state where YOU reside. This helps lower the costs associated with the legal action.

Less Expensive than Hiring a Lawyer

Although the Legal Bundle was created by a lawyer, I did not have to pay said lawyer excessive fees to create legal policies for my website. In fact, I saved over $300 by purchasing this product instead of consulting with a lawyer who may not have been a good match for me or my online business.

On top of that, the Legal Bundle is a more reasonable and affordable option because:

  • You will gain access to future updates for FREE
  • You can use these templates to create legal policies for other websites that you own
  • You can earn your money back by becoming an affiliate

How awesome is that!?! You definitely will NOT get the same benefits if you choose to take the lawyer route instead. In fact, you will have to spend more money to make updates to your policies and create legal policies for each of your websites. Do you want to lose more money or make more money?

Offers More Protection than Free Templates

Before I purchased the Legal Bundle (or even knew about it), I used free templates to create legal policies for my website. There were two main reasons for that: 1) I couldn’t afford to pay a lawyer to create legal policies for my website and 2) the free templates were recommended by well-known bloggers. While I’m sure they meant well, that was a big no-no that could have cost me a fortune.

Free legal policy templates do not offer the same protection as legal policies that are created by a lawyer. Period. Don’t make the same mistake as me of taking the shortcut in protecting your business. It’s a risk and bad decision that is not worth it and one that could cost you a lot down the road.

What are all the templates needed to run an online blog in the UK?

I plan to post content… I plan to have guest writers… I plan to have guest interviews…. I plan to sell my own merchandise as well as sell affiliate products, run a mailing list and maybe a contest or two..

What legal templates would I need for this kind of business?

If you could helpmI would be most appreciative

    🙂

    • Hi Craig,

Although I don’t live in the UK (and advise that you speak to a lawyer to get the most accurate information), I do know that websites need a Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and Terms and Conditions page at the bare minimum. Additionally, based on what you shared, it would be a good idea to also get a Guest Blogger Agreement, Media Release Agreement, and Sweepstakes Terms and Conditions template. You can learn more about each in this blog post: https://www.jessicadukharan.com/legal-templates-bloggers-entrepreneurs/
